“Lenços dos namorados” was a tradition in the north of Portugal, handkerchiefs that young girls would embroider for boys, either as a declaration of love or as a memento if they went absent. They always had bright and colourful floral patterns, along with short verses (often full of spelling errors).
I took inspiration on their distinctive visual style but gave it my own twist to create this concept. I wanted a clean and more detailed look while retaining a hand made feel. As such I drew all lines by hand on my Surface Pro and I deliberately misregistered the fills for an artisanal feeling.
